PITUITARY CANCER

 

Pituitary tumors are abnormal growths found in the pituitary gland, a small organ about the size of a pea in the center of the brain - which makes hormones that affect your growth and the functions of other glands in your body.

Causes:

  • cushing's disease - in which fat to build up in the face, back, and chest, and the arms and legs to become very thin.

Symptoms:

  • Headaches
  • Vision problems
  • Visual disturbances
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • To much sugar in the blood
  • Weak muscles and bones
  • Flushed face 
  • High blood pressure

Treatments:

  • Surgery
  • Radiation Therapy - should be considered if either medical therapy or surgery is ineffective in reducing proclatin levels or tumor size.
  • Drugs therapy
  • Hormone supplements
