SMALL INTESTINE CANCER

 

Is a disease in which cancer (malignant) cells are found in the tissues of the small intestine.  The small intestine is a long tube that folds many times to fit inside the abdomen.

Causes:

  • Eating a high-fat diet. 

  • Having Crohn's disease. 

  • Having celiac disease. 

  • Having familial adenomatous polyposis 

Symptoms:

  • crampy abdominal pain 
  • blood mixed in the stools 
  • dark/tarry/black stools (from digested blood) 
  • weight loss 
  • diarrhea 
  • weakness or tiredness
  • jaundice (yellow skin color)

Treatments:

  • Surgical excision
  • Radiotherapy
  • Chemotherapy
