The most aggressive clinical course of any type of pulmonary tumor, with median survival from diagnosis of only 2 to 4 months.
It Is generally faster growing than non-small cell, but more likely to respond to chemotherapy.

Symptoms:
- Cough
- Chest pain
- Wheezing sound when
breathing
- Shortness of
breath
- Coughing up blood
- Hoarseness
- Swelling in the face and neck
Treatments:
- Surgery (taking out the cancer)
- Radiation therapy (using high-dose x-rays or other high-energy rays to kill cancer cells)
- Chemotherapy (using drugs to kill cancer cells)
