Also
called Carbuncle or Furuncle, it looks like an
over-sized pimple which is inflamed and filled
with pus. They are quite painful and can develop
anywhere on the body most frequently at the
armpits and buttocks.
Symptoms:
1.
Initially it appears as a red lump and as
it grows pus starts to appear.
2.
There is tenderness and pain.

Occasionally there is presence of fever.
Causes:
1.
Usually caused by staphylococcus bacteria
present when there is infection of a hair
follicle.
What
you can do:
1.
To avoid spreading of infection, do not
burst a boil.
2.
Apply hot compress 3x a day for 10 minutes
to help ripen the boil.
3.
Wash the area thoroughly after the boil has
burst and cover it with dry dressing.
Bacteria
from boil can cause food poisoning. Wash hands
before preparing or handling any food.
