Convulsion or seizure is caused by episode of uncontrolled bioelectrical discharge in the brain. Epileptic patients who suffer from frequent seizures require immediate medical attention. Children with high fever must be treated immediately to prevent convulsions and brain damage.

Temporary loss of consciousness is due to lack of blood supply in the brain. This is brought about by severe pain, hunger, shock, stress, breathing stuffy air, exhaustion, etc.  more

FIRST AID BASICS    
Check the following when you approach an injured person: a.  Airway -  check if the victim's airway is not blocked by the tongue, secretions or foreign body; b.  Breathing -  check if the victim is breathing.  If not, administer artificial respiration.  more

FISH HOOK IN THE SKIN  
Unlike any other splinters, fish hooks are not easy to remove due to the barbs present. Remove it only if there is no medical aid available, if the hook is not deeply embedded or if the barb is visible. It is best to let a doctor remove fish hooks.

SEVERE BLEEDING  
Applying pressure can easily stop the bleeding from shallow wounds.  Severe bleeding is fatal from large or deep wounds and can be very fatal.

Always consider all snake bites poisonous and go to the nearest emergency room immediately.

SPLINTERS IN THE SKIN    
Wood splinters and pieces of glass that puncture skin superficially can be taken out by using clean needles and tweezers. But if the foreign body is deeply embedded or under a joint, professional medical help is advised.
