HEIMLICH MANEUVER

This procedure is done to dislodge foreign object on a choking victim.

1.    Let the victim stand and support him from behind.

2.   With a clenched fist placed under the breastbone and the angle of the thumb against the abdomen, jerk your hands inward giving the victim a hard squeeze.

3.   Do this procedure five times as necessary.

4.   For babies, put him face down on your forearm and his head should be lower than his body.

5.  Slap him four times between the shoulder blades but not as hard as you would for an adult.

6.  If this procedure still fails, lay him on his back and do four chest compression (CPR).

7.  If the obstruction remains, do mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
