1. Wood splinters and pieces of glass that
puncture skin superficially can be taken out by
using clean needles and tweezers. But if the
foreign body is deeply embedded or under a joint,
professional medical help is advised.
2. Remember to clean the injured area with
soap and water or any antiseptic.
3. Sterilize the tweezers by passing it
through a flame.

removing the splinter, squeeze the
wound to flush out dirt along with the blood.
5. If there is swelling after several days,
consult a doctor. Infection may have set in or
there is still an unseen splinter embedded in the
skin.
