Like other provinces, Ilonggos have their own schedule of festivities celebrated every year. The famous DINAGYANG Festival is held every 4th week of January. DINAGYANG is a vibrant and exotic celebration marked by rhythmic dance and frenzied drumbeats. It is celebrated in commemoration of the pact between the Datus of Borneo and the Atis. It also marks the anniversary of the feast of Sto. Nino.

Another major event in Iloilo is the PARAW REGATTA, a race among swift and colorful native outriggers in the strait between Iloilo City and Guimaras Island. This is held every 3rd Sunday of February. The Pasungay or Bull Festival, on the other hand, is held every 2nd Saturday of January. This festivity which features bull fighting is situated at the hillside of San Joaquin.

The city is also famous for its popular delicacies such as: Pancit Molo, the famous flat noodle soup of Chinese origin; Biscocho, sweet, toasted biscuits; and the famous La Paz Batchoy, a tasty pork and noodle soup originally made in the district of La Paz. It also produces some of the finest sinamay, jusi (banana fiber) and piņa (pineapple fiber) embroidery.

Historical mansions and sceneries built during the Spanish regime are still present and well-preserved in the province. The Jaro district boasts of mansions, century old churches and antique dealers. The Museo Iloilo showcases handicrafts, ornaments and cultural heritage of the pre-Spanish era. Plaza Libertad marks the spot where the Spanish troops surrendered to Gen. Martin Delgado.
