Laoag,
the largest city in Northern
Luzon, is consistently growing
and progressing due to its
geographical location, the
characteristics of its people and
the unbelievably good peace and
order situation.
Being
the trade center for an
agricultural region producing
corn, rice, and tobacco, one will
notice the many warehouses,
wholesale outlets, and cigarette
factories in this city, Laoag is
also known as the base of the
country’s sizable fishing
industry. Good roads and national
ports at nearby Gaang and
Salomaque bays serve Laoag. The
city is also located on the
Pan-Philippine Highway, and
houses its own provincial
airport.
There
are 30 compact barangays in the
city proper that are rich in
natural and man-made beauty spots
acceptable for the recreational
activities of the people. At the
southern entrance of the city one
can see the bridge spanning the
Laoag River. Up ahead at the
northern part of the bridge is
the Aurora Park with its famous
Tobacco Monopoly Monument. As you
pass through town you will notice
that each street was named after
the heroes of the country and
some leaders of Spain and
America.
The
festivities in the city’s
annual fiesta celebration
happening every February are a
milestone of exemplary
accomplishment, signifying the
Laoagueño's pagsasarili,
pakikisama, pagkakaisa,
pakikipagkapwa-tao at pagkabayani.
In times of adversary, its people
work harder together proving
their incontestable capacity for
progress.
This
city is blessed with numerous
beaches ideal for surfing and
diving like Badoc
Island Resort, Nipa
Beach Resort,
Aninaya
White Resort
and D'Coral
Beach Resort.
Laoag
City is a perfect setting for
those people who love to
reminisce the past. The city is a
very good place for a nice, quiet
vacation away from the city.
