CHICO RIVER

The province of Kalinga is drained by five rivers but mainly by the Chico River with headwater originating from Mt. Province and emptying into the Cagayan River. The Chico River has several streams that flow to the main river - the Bunog River in the south located in Tinglayan, the Tanudan and Biga Rivers in the east, the Pasil River at the midriff, and the Mabaca and Saltan Rivers in the north. A native fish called the "gachew" can be found thriving in the river, which is considered as the most luscious of delicacies by mountaineers. The river provides sources for power generation, irrigation, domestic use and most famous of all, water sports.
