The forest encompasses a wide
range of habitats and is home to
745 plant species, three of which
are endangered and four
potentially threatened. Some of
the important tree species that
can be found in the Subic forest
are White Lauan,Apitong, Guijo,
Palosapis, and a rattan palm
species previously found only on
Mt. Arayat.
The wonders of the forest can
be seen through Apaliin Trail.
From the Apaliin Point, a
panoramic view can be enjoyed.
Other attractions that can be
found at Subic Bay include:
Bat Kingdom – Bamboo
bats, the smallest in the
country, and fruitbats, the
biggest of its kind, can be found
in the forest reserve.
Bat Highway – The bats
fly by this narrow strip at
sunset.
Bicentennial Park – This
scenic picnic park features a
man-made lagoon where one can
fish using native fishing gears.
Camachile Park – The
park is shaded by Camachile
trees, making it a suitable spot
to have picnics.
El Kabayo Equestrian Center
– Both riding lessons and
horseback riding are offered at
the equestrian center.
Grande Island – The
island can be best appreciated
while staying at the beach
resort.
Hill 394 – The hill is
394 meters above sea level,
offering a beautiful view of
Subic Bay and Mount Natib.
Jungle Environmental Survival
Training Camp and Butterfly
Garden – The Mini Zoo is
home to diverse biological
resources, while butterflies can
be found at the Butterfly
Kingdom. Moreover, jungle
survival techniques are taught by
US Navy-trained Aeta Training
Officers.
Malawaan Pier – Fishing
areas at the pier allow day
fishing.
Mangrove Graveyard – A
memorial to one of the worst
calamities to hit the country,
the graveyard cradles the remains
of dipterocarps that were ravaged
by the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo.
Mt. Pinatubo Crater Trek –
Taking this trek gives one a
chance to kayak the crater lake
of Pinatubo and view the
hotsprings, mountain pools, lahar
fields, canyons, and remains of
towns buried in mudflows.
Pamulaklakin Forest Trails /
Pastolan Aeta Village – A
native will guide trekkers
through an Ecology Tour that will
orient them with Aeta culture.
The forest offers sites for
picnics and camping.
Redondo Beaches – The
undeveloped beaches offer a
natural beauty that is unrivaled.
Shipwrecks – Relics at
the remains of the Oryoko Maru,
Seian Maru, USS New York, USS
Rochester, LCV Landing Craft and
LST date back to the Spanish and
American eras.
Subic Bay Ocean Adventure –
The marine sanctuary is home to
sea mammals like dolphins, false
killer whales and sea lions.
Subic Beaches – The
beautiful beaches of Subic
include Dungaree, Officers', All
Hands, Miracle, Nabasan, Hidden,
and Grande Island.
Triboa Bay Marine Park –
Clams, crustaceans and fish are
bred at this marine park.
Waterfront Boardwalk –
Marvelous sunrise and sunsets can
be viewed from the boardwalk.
Subic Bay's Flying Foxes
– Over 10,000 fruit bats
comprise one of the last large
bat colonies, including the
Golden Crowned Flying Fox and the
Philippine Giant Fruit Bat, which
can only be found in the
Philippines. With wings spanning
up to two meters, these two
species are the largest bats in
the world.
Subic Bay's Bamboo Bats
– With a wingspan that is
smaller than the length of a
child's hand, the bamboo bat
weighs only around two grams, the
smallest bat species in the
Philippines. The large bamboo
forests of Subic is an ideal home
for these creatures.
