Pangasinan adjourns
Lingayen Gulf and is the point
of departure for tourists
traveling to the One Hundred
Islands National Park, a
remarkably varied collection of
coral islets. The bangus or
milkfish of Pangasinan are
reputed to be the best in the
country. These firm,
white-fleshed fish are bred in
ponds throughout the province.

Lingayen Gulf was the landing
area for both the Japanese
invasion forces and the American
liberators during World War II
and many memorials have been
erected in memory of these
important historical events.
These include the Lingayen Gulf
War Memorial and the park and
marker at Bonuan Blue Beach.
Best known
churches in the region are the
Church of St. James Fortress,
Bolinao, with its wooden statue
and antique altar, and Old St.
John’s Cathedral, Dagupan, the
site of a Spanish surrender
during the Philippine
Revolution.
The most
popular dive sites are
Fourteen-Mile Reef and Devil’s
Island. Cape Bolinao Beach is
ideal for tourist development,
while Nalso Cave and its
subterranean river attract
spelunking enthusiasts.
