Edelyn Aubrey showed her talent in the performing arts at an early age. The Fil-Canadian was born and raised in Fort Saint John, British Columbia, Canada. At five she began taking singing lessons and performing with the Bel Canto Children’s Choir, which allowed her to travel to different parts of Canada to perform. One of the highlights of her stint with Children’s Choir was when they held a performance for Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana.
At 6, she manifested her talents in acting, dancing, singing, and reciting poems in different festivals! She joined theater productions like: “The Mikado” and “Pirates of Penzance.” It wasn’t until she was cast in the “West Side Story” that she decided to take acting seriously. Her excellent performance in the play gave her ample skills and confidence to audition for the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City.
The American Musical and Dramatic Academy then offered her a full immersion into professional acting training as well as the perks of living in the city that never sleeps. While there, she made the most of her time as she joined numerous workshops at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and private tutelage with famed Julliard drama teacher Deloss Brown.
It was during a break from her studies in New York that her relatives and friends encouraged her to rise up to another challenge and fulfill a childhood dream. She joined the Miss Philippines of North America pageant. It was a pageant that allowed its winner to join the Bb. Pilipinas competition here in the Philippines. And by joining Bb. Pilipinas, she has the opportunity to represent her motherland in the prestigious Miss Universe pageant.
She graduated from The American Musical and Dramatic Academy and went on to complete a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theater at the New School University.
After her graduation, she landed a role in the independent film “The Accountant” and numerous appearances on Canada’s YTV network series “Warp.”
Aubrey decided to transfer to LA from New York to pursue her craft. Her first project was Mark Bella’s short film, “She” that premiered in New York at the New Filmmaker’s Festival. A chance meeting with a young director at the festival led to an audition for a television series being shot in the Philippines.
Aubrey portrayed the character of Diane Sorentino on ABS-CBN’s “Kapalaran” playing oppsite two of the countries most acclaimed actors Joel Torre and Cesar Montano.
When she went back to LA, she was cast in the “Refrigerators” and played the role of Suzy in “Juggernautz” at the Complex Theater. She played Fear in the acclaimed run of “Overflow” at the Hudson Guild. She was cast on “Sunday on the Rocks” at the Ventura Court Theater.
She did some voiceover work on the WWII drama “The Great Raid, ” which starred fellow Filipino Cesar Montano. She completed a series of short films including “Half-Awake,” “Special Service,” and “Vincent and Eddie.”
She became the chosen artist of Masters session with the Labyrinth Theater Company (Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Artistic Director) in residence at The Public Theater.
Her latest films include: the feature film “The Candy Shop, “Dough Boys,” and “Foundations.”
When she’s not busy, she joins aerobics sessions, shoots some hoops and plays billiards. She loves yoga, bowling, cycling, figure skating, ice-skating, roller-skating, skiing, and swimming. She can play the sax and play different characters with Asian, Southern, Spanish, or Filipino accent.
