Another Pinay is making a name for herself on a reality TV show abroad. 32-year-old Madonna Decena has made it to the semi-finals of the judges' auditions for "Britain's Got Talent," produced by American Idol judge Simon Cowell. The UK program is a search for the country's best amateur talent act, including singers, dancers, comedians and other acts.

During the first round of auditions at the Manchester Theater, Madonna made an impression on judges -- Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan -- and audience alike when she tearfully revealed that she joined the competition for exposure that may get her more work so she can provide for her two daughters who she had to leave behind in the Philippines. She then belted out a heartfelt rendition of Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You," which moved actress-judge Holden to tears and garnered a standing ovation from the audience. Madonna also sailed through the second round in London, advancing to the semi-finals with 39 other contestants.
With a communication arts degree from Miriam College, the Filipina is the breadwinner of her family and single mother to two daughters, aged 5 and 6, who she left in the care of her parents in Quezon City. She was previously in a Filipino band that performed in Singapore for two years before moving to Manchester, England to study music production and seek more opportunities for a singing career.
Last year, while singing at a music lounge in Liverpool, she was discovered by British couple Steve and Judi Jones, who run Steve Jones Entertainment, a small talent management company. Steve Jones went about getting Madonna a full working permit and when she learned about Britain's Got Talent, she immediately set her sights on joining the competition. She saw it as a means to fulfill her dreams for her two daughters.
Madonna has already taken a step on the right path to achieving this. Already a crowd favorite, she's definitely got the talent and the will to make it straight to the finals.
